Evolution and innovation in the path of CGM and Banca Ifis

That of CGM, the Salerno-based polygraphic industry, is a path that was born in the tradition of the Art of Printing, but which has developed over the years to respond to different market needs”, says Alfredo Schiavo, CGM’s Sales Director.

CGM started out as a lithographic press. We then specialised first in corporate communication and later in food and primary and secondary pharmaceutical packaging. The company has thus decided to pursue three divisions, embracing a path of diversification towards sustainable policies in terms of both ethics and approach to production.

How did you come to know Banca Ifis and how did it help you with instrumental leasing?

The relationship between Banca Ifis and CGM was born at the time of our latest business transformation process made possible also thanks to the different business proposals offered by the bank. The latest partnership we entered into concerned capital equipment leasing, which enabled us to acquire a useful piece of machinery for our activities and which effectively concluded our internal development process.

What are the pillars of your company and what role do sustainability and innovation play?

Equipping ourselves and putting sustainability policies into practice has been, and indeed continues to be, a key step in qualifying us with our target customers. As CGM, we believe that in a world like today’s, which is constantly changing, it is necessary to make choices in line with ESG criteria. It is therefore essential for a company like ours to ensure we are always up-to-date and acquire certifications that can attest to our commitment to sustainability. We are already BRCGS, FSC, ISO certified and are working on obtaining SEDEX by SMETA for ethical sustainability soon.

With respect to innovation, for CGM this is synonymous with worker support: we believe that technology must facilitate our people, relieving them of mechanical tasks so that they can devote their efforts to value-added activities.

What are the next projects in the pipeline?

We are aiming for rather ambitious dimensional growth, doubling our production area and acquiring new machinery that will allow us to adopt and strengthen our energy-saving policies. Moreover, we are already committed to the in-house training of our resources and will continue to do so in order to address the shortage of skilled labour and create an increasingly cohesive team that I am firmly convinced will prove to be our strength in the coming years.
